ALABAMA (WIAT) — Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore is asking that the ethics charges against him be dropped. His legal team filed the request in response to the investigation launched by the Judicial Inquiry Commission.
The commission is recommending Moore be removed from office. They say Moore ignored a Supreme Court decision that legalized same sex marriage. Moore says he never ordered judges to ignore the ruling and is calling the commission’s charges “baseless.”
A hearing on the investigation is scheduled for August 8.
