Driver identified in fatal wreck that shut down I-20 eastbound near Lincoln exit; left lane now open

LINCOLN, Ala. (WIAT) – State Troopers are on the scene of multiple crashes on I-20 that blocked all eastbound lanes at mile marker 165, according to ALEA.

As of 10 a.m., the left lane had re-opened.

ALEA has identified the driver of the vehicle as Booker T. Brown, 55, of Birmingham. Brown was driving eastbound on I-20 when his 2018 Freightliner he was driving left the roadway, hit a parked vehicle in the emergency lane and overturned, according to a release from ALEA. Brown, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

There’s an additional multi-vehicle crash just east of the first wreck.
